Shubhangi Atre’s Ex-Husband Piyush Poorey Passes Away

Shubhangi Atre is well known for playing Angoori Bhabhi in the hit TV show Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain. She is going through a tough time. Her ex-husband, Piyush Poorey, passed away on Saturday after a long struggle with liver cirrhosis. He worked in digital marketing.

Shubhangi Atre Mourns The Loss of Ex-Husband Piyush Poorey

Shubhangi confirmed the news to TOI and expressed her sadness, saying, “Your thoughtfulness during this time means a great deal to me. I request you to give me some time to talk about this.”

A close source revealed that Shubhangi and Piyush were not in contact at the time of his passing. Despite her grief, she returned to the set of Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain! on Sunday.

The couple married in 2003 and share a daughter, Ashi, born in 2006. After over 20 years together, they officially got divorced on February 5, 2025.

Earlier, in a Bombay Times interview, Shubhangi had spoken about their separation. She shared, “It was painful. I was fully invested in the relationship. Over time, Piyush and I developed irreconcilable differences.”

She added, “However, now that I’m out of that marriage, I feel a sense of peace, as if a heavy burden has been lifted. I want to focus on my daughter and provide her with a happy and secure environment.”
Shubhangi had also mentioned that they had been living separately for nearly a year before their divorce. Speaking about marriage, she said, “Respect, companionship, trust, and friendship are the pillars of a strong marriage. But sometimes, giving each other space to focus on individual lives and careers becomes necessary.”

Shubhangi continues to entertain audiences in her popular role on Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain.
