EXCLUSIVE: Donal Bisht REVEALS Auditioning For Surpanakha’s Role In Nitesh Tiwari, Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana; Says, “Main Zindagi Mein Nahi Soch Sakti Thi…”

Nitesh Tiwari is gearing up for Ramayana starring Ranbir Kapoor, and Donal Bisht reveals she auditioned for the historical drama. In an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Bubble, the actress recalled receiving a call from Mukesh Chhabra’s casting agency. She was approached for the role of Surpanakha. If reports are to be believed, the role will be headlined by Rakul Preet Singh. However, no confirmation has been made. Scroll down to read what she said.

Donal Bisht On Auditioning For Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana

When asked about Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana and being replaced for the role of Surpanakha, Donal Bisht said, “So mujhe Mukesh Chhabra ke office se call aaya tha. Ek ladki ne mujhe call karke bola, ‘Aapko pata hai Nitesh Tiwari ji ki film aa rahi hai?’ Maine kaha, ‘Yes.’ Phir bola, ‘Ranbir Kapoor kar rahe hain.’ Maine kaha, ‘Yes.’ Us time TV mein bahut log mujhe Sita, Radha jaise roles ke liye approach karte rehte the. Lekin maine TV mein aise mythological roles nahi kiye hain. Us waqt bhi koi show chal raha tha aur teen–chaar mahine se mujhe Radha ka role offer ho raha tha. Par main mana kar rahi thi ki mujhe nahi karna. Toh jab mujhe call aaya, mujhe laga shayad woh usi type ka role hoga. Phir unhone bola, ‘Aap Surpanakha ke liye audition denge?'”

She continued, “Maine kaha, ‘What?’ (laughs) Main toh soch bhi nahi sakti thi ki mujhe Surpanakha ke audition ke liye phone aayega. Unhone poocha, ‘Aap hans kyun rahi ho?’ Maine kaha, ‘Main zindagi mein nahi soch sakti thi ki koi mujhe Surpanakha ke audition ke liye bhi bula sakta hai.’ Phir unhone kaha, ‘Production house ne specifically aapka audition manga hai/ Aur hum sirf limited, final shortlisted logon ke auditions le rahe hain. Aap ek baar aake de dijiye.’ “

Donal added, “Mujhe laga shayad Sita ke liye bula rahe honge. Kyunki meri life mein us waqt waise hi cheezein ho rahi thi. Unhone kaha, ‘Woh toh abhi decide nahi hua hai. Sita abhi lock nahi hui hai. You never know, aap aake audition de do.’ Toh main next day audition deke aa gayi. And ek–do din baad news aa gayi ki Sai Pallavi is doing it. Maine socha, ‘Phir mujhe kaise bula liya?'”

About Ramayana

Ranbir Kapoor is playing the role of Ram, and Sai Pallavi will be seen essaying the role of Sita. KGF star Yash will now be seen as Ravana in this movie. Sunny Deol and Ravie Dubey will play the roles of Hanuman and Laxman, respectively. On the other hand, Kajal Aggarwal and Rakul Preet Singh will be seen as Mandodri and Surpanakha. Arun Govil, Kunal Kapoor, Adinath Kothare, Sheeba Chaddha, and Indira Krishnan are also a part of this project.
