Sharing his thoughts, Sahil said the idea stayed with him from the very first narration, “What struck me immediately was the subject of the cow. In today’s generation, especially among Gen Z, awareness about the importance of cows is slowly fading. We are forgetting values that were once an important part of our lives.”

He explained that cows have traditionally played a significant role in Indian households, both spiritually and practically. There are many benefits connected to cows, from medicines to milk and products like paneer. Earlier, people treated cows with care and respect.

Today, we often see them abandoned on roads, and nobody seems to care, Sahil shared. The actor added that one of the biggest reasons he said yes to the film was that such stories are rarely told. “I honestly don’t remember seeing a recent film focused on cows. That made this project important for me. It felt like the right time to remind people, especially the younger generation, about why cows have always mattered in our society,” he said.

Known for choosing diverse projects from Student of the Year and Babloo Happy Hai, Banned, to schizophrenia based short film Paatr, Sahil Anand has steadily built a reputation for experimenting with different genres and subjects. From light-hearted roles to more meaningful narratives, his project choices reflect versatility and a willingness to step away from the usual. With Godaan, Sahil takes on an uncommon subject, hoping the film will encourage conversation and reflection when it releases early next year
