Former actress Sana Khan – who gained fame with her performance in Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and her stint in Bigg Boss 6, has denied claims of being brainwashed by her husband into quitting Bollywood. For the unversed, just a month after announcing she’s leaving showbiz in 2020, Sana married a Muslim cleric and businessman named Mufti Anas Saiyad. In July 2023, they welcomed their first son, Saiyad Tariq Jamil and in January 2025, they were blessed with their second kid, Saiyad Hasan Jamil.
During a recent appearance on Rashami Desai’s YouTube channel, the former actress not only addressed the ‘brainwash’ allegations but also spoke about keeping her marriage a secret from all. Read on to know all she shared.
Sana Khan: Nobody Can Brainwash You
During her interaction with Rashami Desai, Sana Khan opened up about her marriage and how her npw-husband Mufti Anas Saiyad helped her get through that major life change. She shared, “When our marriage was arranged, it was a top secret. Nobody except my mom and dad even knew the groom’s name. Even when the mehendi artist asked for his name, I didn’t reveal it. I was going through a major change in my life. I was transforming into a whole new person. This is something that I wanted, and he is the one who guided me.”
The Bigg Boss 6 contestant also touched upon people assuming she was ‘brainwashed’ by Anas into wearing a hijab and quitting Bollywood. Addressing these allegations, the former actress shared, “People think, ‘Oh she used to roam without a hijab, and suddenly she’s become so this that. So maybe this guy has brainwashed her.’ It’s never like that. Nobody can brainwash you until and unless you don’t want it. I wanted peace. A person might find fame, money and status, but at the end of the day, everyone wants inner peace.”
During the same chat, Sana also stated that she left the film industry because ‘when your surroundings aren’t right, your decisions are often wrong’.
