TV actor Lalit Manchanda, who was seen in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, dies by suicide in Meerut on Monday, April 21. He was 48. Police investigation indicates the reason behind his suicide is assumed to be stress and financial crisis.

According to local media reports, police officials reached the scene shortly after receiving information about the incident. The body was taken into custody and sent for postmortem. No suicide note was recovered from the residence. Reports further revealed that the preliminary investigation has not indicated any signs of foul play, conspiracy, or external involvement. The investigation is currently underway on this matter. According to Lalit Manchandani was said to be facing financial crisis for quite some time due to lack of work. He left Mumbai and shifted to his brother’s place in Prahlad Nagar in Lisadi Gate area, Meerut, UP around 6 months back. As reported by Free Press Journal, the late actor was under a lot of mental stress lately.
On Tuesday, the official Instagram account of CINTAA mourned Lalit’s demise and offered condolence. Along with a photo of the actor, they wrote, “CINTAA expresses its condolences on the demise of Lalit Manchanda (member since 2012).”
Workwise, Lalit was seen in popular TV shows like ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’, ‘India’s Most Wanted’ and ‘Crime Patrol. He is survived by wife Taaru Manchanda, son Ujjwal and daughter Shreya.
