Vijay Deverakonda was offered a whopping sum by Karan Johar to star in ‘Dear Comrade’ Hindi remake?

Karan Johar created quite the buzz when he announced that he had bought the rights for the Hindi remake of ‘Dear Comrade’. The Telugu film released recently and it features ‘Arjun Reddy’ fame actor Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna. ‘Dear Comrade’ will complete one week at the box office and has made a good business down South.

Reports say that Vijay had specially flown down to Mumbai just a few days before the film’s release to make sure Karan was the first one to watch the film before his huge announcement. While it was recently reported that KJo paid a staggering Rs 6 crore to acquire the Hindi remake rights of ‘Dear Comrade’. There were also rumours that Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter were being considered for lead roles in Hindi remake but Karan has refuted them.

The latest buzz suggests that Karan has been having his eyes on casting Vijay Deverakonda himself.

However, as per a report in Mumbai Mirror, Johar was so keen to see Vijay in the Hindi remake that he even offered him a whopping Rs 40 crore for the role. However, the South star politely refused the offer. Deverakonda had also refused to star in ‘Kabir Singh’, the remake of his mega-hit ‘Arjun Reddy’.

Explaining the reason why he refused to star in the remake of his own film, Vijay told Film Companion, “I don’t want to be a Hindi film hero… I wanted to be an actor. Besides, I see no point in telling the same story twice. I spend so much energy on a film I do it… I can’t redo entire emotions…It’s not exciting for me because I know the scenes. I wouldn’t want to waste six months doing the same.”
