After getting rave reviews and having earned more than Rs 100 crore in five days at the box office window, speculations are rife that Rohit Shetty might make an announcement of its sequel soon. If this happens, this would be Shetty’s second film franchise after ‘Golmaal’. It is to be noted that ‘Simmba’ is the fourth consecutive hit of Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan.

Ranveer Singh’s last release ‘Padmaavat’ minted Rs 19 crore on its opening day and was Ranveer’s biggest opening. It was crushed by ‘Simmba’ which made a collection of Rs 20.72 crore on its releasing day.

An industry source told Bollywood Hungama, “Rohit Shetty has not designed ‘Simmba’ as a one-off occurrence. Ranveer will be back as ‘Simmba’ again. And this time, Ajay Devgn’s ‘Singham’ won’t be in a cameo like it is in ‘Simmba’. In the next ‘Simmba’ film, Ranveer and Devgn will be fighting corrupt elements as a team.”

However, the source said that it depends on the magnitude of ‘Simmba’s success, whether its sequel will be made or not. If recent reports are anything to go by, ‘Simmba’ is (in most likelihood) likely to cross the Rs. 150 crore mark at the ticket window. Fortunately, there are no major releases in the coming week. The film may even gain entry into the Rs. 200 crore club.

‘Simmba’ is a joint production venture between Rohit Shetty Picturez and Dharma Productions, which released on December 28. It has become Shetty’s eighth consecutive film, which has crossed Rs 100 crore mark at the domestic box office.
