Arjun Kapoor is having a terrible run at the cinemas. The actor who is already in news for his temper tantrums has found himself on the wrong footing after his last release ‘Namaste England’ which tanked without a trace at the box office. So much so that the total lifetime collections of the rom-com was less than day 1 collection of his most films.

Now, that has put Arjun in no trouble as he’s happily spending time with his rumoured girlfriend Malaika Arora. But it definitely has put a lot of pressure on the makers of his next film ‘Panipat’. Our source reveals, “Ashutosh Gowariker had got two financiers to back his magnum opus. The look tests are done and the film is supposed to roll by the year-end. But there’s been a temporary pause on things now. The director and his team have been heard discussing the fate of the film in hushed murmurs. They are contemplating how Arjun will be able to help them recover the budget of Rs 70-80 crore that they have alloted for Panipat.”

Huge sets have been erected and a lot of money has been invested in the film. But now, the financiers have decided to pull strings on the film. The same source further added, “The financers have evaluated how much they will be able to recover from satellite, theatrical and digital rights and come to a conclusion. They have had a meeting with Ashu and asked him to take a budget cut of at least Rs 20 crore. They have given him an ultimatum to make the film within a budget of Rs 50-60 crore and keep another Rs 10 crore for P&A.”

‘Panipat’ also stars Kriti Sanon and Sanjay Dutt in lead roles.
