Aamir Khan-Rajkumar Hirani's Dadasaheb Phalke Biopic Pushed Until March_

Sources indicate that Aamir Khan led biopic on Dadasaheb Phalke, initially scheduled to begin filming in January, has been pushed to March as director Rajkumar Hirani revises the script to better reflect the subject’s significance. Both Hirani and Aamir agree that the film should evoke contemporary emotion while remaining true to Phalke’s historical importance.

Aamir Khan Starrer Dadasaheb Phalke Biopic Pushed Until March?

In September 2025, Mid-day reported that the project was set to start in January 2026, noting that Aamir was deeply moved during certain moments depicting Phalke’s life (Aamir reportedly cried over some scenes on September 27). However, plans have now shifted, and the duo is aiming to commence production in late March.

Insiders reveal that a new draft of the screenplay is currently being developed, one that aligns with both Hirani and Aamir’s visions and does justice to Phalke’s journey as the Father of Indian cinema. A source told Mid-day, “Hirani and Aamir agree that the film must feel emotionally contemporary while staying rooted in history. The rewrite is to fine-tune the balance of humour and sincerity. They want to ensure that the character arc captures Phalke’s stature. The draft will likely be finalised by February, and production will begin in late March.”

Meanwhile, speculation last month suggested Aamir might begin work on a sequel to 3 Idiots (2009), but he clarified that he has not been approached for it. The Phalke biopic is set to be his next project.

Khan was last seen in Sitaare Zameen Par, it also starred Genelia Deshmukh. Next, Aamir is producing Lahore 1947, featuring Sunny Deol, Preity Zinta and Ali Fazal. Another lineup is Ek Din, starring Junaid Khan and Sai Pallavi, both under his banner Aamir Khan Productions.
