Aamir Khan: For me, ‘Secret Superstar’ is a bigger film than ‘Dangal’

Aamir Khan has always picked up interesting movie subjects which instantly connect with the audience. His last release ‘Dangal’ saw him in the role of a former wrestler who trains his daughters, who eventually go on to become national champions in the sport of wrestling. The story was inspired from the real-life Phogat family. And now, his upcoming flick ‘Secret Superstar’ is also all about dreams. It is about a teenage girl from a conservative Muslim family who pursues her dream of becoming a singer through a Youtube channel, in spite of opposition from her strict father. Aamir Khan is not just the producer of the movie but also the second lead (as he prefers calling himself). He plays a flirtatious music composer in the movie.

So, as he is all geared up for the movie, he made a surprising confession. Speaking to IANS, he said, “For me, ‘Secret Superstar’ is a bigger film than ‘Dangal’.” That’s a huge revelation by the actor which left his teammates in shock because considering how much preparations he had done for his role in ‘Dangal’, one had expected him to consider that movie over ‘Secret Superstar’. The movie which stars Zaira Wasim in the lead role of Insia, has been earning praises ever since its trailer and songs released. So, as we recently engaged in an exclusive chat with Zaira, we asked her if she feels the pressure as after receiving a National Award for ‘Dangal’, she is the lead actress in this movie. She said, “I don’t feel a pressure because ‘Dangal’ was a hit. I feel a pressure because I overthink which is very personal to me. I feel pressurised for everything. I feel even pressurised for even sitting here right now. But, I am very lucky and very fortunate that I got a chance to work with him (Aamir Khan) twice. He has put in so much faith in me. I hope this film does well. I really hope all the efforts we all have put get appreciated.”
