Abhinav Kashyap On Salman Khan’s Contribution To Dabangg’s Dialogues

During a past conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Dabangg director Abhinav Kashyap was quizzed about Salman Khan’s contribution to the film’s dialogues. For the unversed, actor-producer Arbaaz Khan has once told the publication that Salman was the person who came up with some of Dabangg’s now-iconic dialogues like ‘Itne ched kar dunga’ and ‘Hum Robin Hood Pandey hain’. When asked if it was true, the director replied affirmatively.

He explained, “I’ll give you a script of 80 pages. There’s nothing in it but around 4000 dialogues. So, if you specifically ask, ‘Who wrote this dialogue? Where did this come from?’ So, I’ll tell you where it came from. I’ve never denied that Salman didn’t contribute. A lot of people have a contribution to the film – Dilip Shukla has, I have, even Arbaaz has. My friend Sunil Nabora has also.”

When quizzed why Salman Khan wasn’t credited as a writer for Dabangg as he was in Veer, the filmmaker replied, “You should ask Salman. If his contribution was substantial enough, then he would have been given credit for contributing to the writing in the film. But that was fine.” He added, “Actors have their own improvisations. Actors also get something. It’s not like you ask an actor to do something and they do as is, they aren’t puppets.”
