The Bombay High Court (Mumbai HC) recently heard the petition of Aditya Pancholi to quash the 2019 r*pe FIR lodged against him at Versova Police Station. Aditya Pancholi, a prominent actor of the ’90s known for his roles in grey characters, has had a notable career but has also been involved in various controversies. Aditya Pancholi Moves To Mumbai HC In 2019 R*pe Case

During Thursday’s hearing, advocate Prashant Patil, representing Pancholi, reiterated the request to set aside the FIR, which includes charges under IPC Section 376 and other sections. The complainant, a female Bollywood actress, has not appeared before the court despite multiple notices. The public prosecutor informed the court that eleven notices had been sent to her, but she did not respond; consequently, the court issued a fresh summons directing her to appear on the next date.

The FIR was filed on June 27, 2019, but remains a subject of controversy, especially since the complaint was made nearly 15 years after the alleged incident. Pancholi’s legal team argued that the case is malicious and falls under the criteria outlined in the Supreme Court’s Bhajan Lal judgment, which allows for the quashing of cases with such circumstances.

Aditya Pancholi’s Recording Presented To Court

In court, advocate Patil also revealed that a recording of a meeting with the complainant, made prior to the alleged incident, is in Pancholi’s team’s possession. They claim this recording suggests wrongful intent behind the re-registration of the complaint. The case remains pending before the court, with the next hearing scheduled for February 24, 2026.

What Were The Charges On Aditya Pancholi?

Regarding the charges, the FIR filed in 2019 accused Pancholi of multiple offenses, including rape (Section 376), causing hurt by poison (Section 328), extortion (Section 384), wrongful restraint (Section 341), wrongful confinement (Section 342), causing hurt (Section 323), and criminal intimidation (Section 506) under the Indian Penal Code. Following the filing, Pancholi asserted that he had been falsely implicated in the case.
