In the wake of Coronavirus outbreak, Akshay took to the micro-blogging site Twitter and wrote, “This is that time when all that matters is the lives of our people. And we need to do anything and everything it takes. I pledge to contribute Rs 25 crores from my savings to @narendramodi ji’s PM-CARES Fund. Let’s save lives, Jaan hai toh jahaan hai.”

Soon PM Modi replied to the actor’s post saying, “Great gesture @akshaykumar Let’s keep donating for a healthier India.”

Even Akshay’s actress-turned-author wife Twinkle Khanna lauded him for his thoughtful gesture. Twinkle shared how her hubby made her proud as she wrote, “The man makes me proud. When I asked him if he was sure as it was such a massive amount and we needed to liquidate funds, he just said, ‘ I had nothing when I started and now that I am in this position, how can I hold back from doing whatever I can for those who have nothing.’(sic)”

Even Sonali Bendre lauded the ‘Kesari’ actor.

Akshay has always been proactive when it comes to contributing to issues of national importance. With more celebs coming forward to donate to India’s war against COVID-19, hopefully we all will be able to overcome the tough times smoothly.

In India so far 1008 Covid-19 positive cases have been confirmed. Whereas 21 deaths have been reported so far.
