Actor Akshay Kumar, who recently joined Ajay Devgn and Shah Rukh Khan for a pan masala ad, found himself recently at the end of criticism. Fans are miffed to see the actor endorsing the brand despite knowing that the product contains tobacco. As it affected the people and Akshay received heavy backlash from netizens, Akshay recently took to his Instagram account and dropped a statement where he apologised to his fans and decided to step down from the endorsement. 

The statement also mentioned that he will contribute the endorsement fee to a worthy cause. Furthermore, Akshay Kumar also mentioned that since the brand is going to continue airing due to the legal contract, he promises to be extremely mindful in making future choices.

The Sooryavanshi actor’s statement read, “I am sorry. I would like to apologise to you, all my fans and well-wishers. Your reaction over the past few days has deeply affected me. While I have not and will not endorse tobacco, I respect the outpouring of your feelings in light of my association with Vimal Elaichi. With all humility, I step back. I have decided to contribute the entire endorsement fee towards a worthy cause. The brand might continue airing the ads till the legal duration of the contract that is binding upon me, but I promise to be extremely mindful in making my future choices. In return, I shall forever continue to ask for your love and wishes.

Right after Akshay released the official statement, we went through the comment section and it seems like his fans are elated with the decision. A fan wrote, “Real Men accept the mistake & accepting the mistake makes you even greater.. It shows how much imp your Fans are for you” while another one said, “Superstar for a reason….U don’t deserve all those hates sir.
