Bollywood’s megastar Amitabh Bachchan and his wife Jaya, completed 41 years of marriage on Tuesday, But it was a lonely day for Big B, as family was busy with other commitments. Amitabh Bachchan said that distance does not matter as their hearts are “together”. The couple were married on June 3, 1973 and have two children – son Abhishek and daughter Shweta.

As per sources, Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan had worked together in a number of movies including Zanjeer, Abhimaan, Chupke Chupke, Sholay, Silsila and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. Big B thanked fans for sending in wishes.”Devoid of any celebration, devoid of presence, just devoid. Wife away out of country, children travelling, but hearts together. And to all that wish for the anniversary, many thanks for the wishes, love all of you.”

The megastar also dedicated his blog to all the ‘wives’ and thanked them for making the life of men beautiful and gratifying. On his blog srbachchan.tumblr.com, he wrote: “The lavishness of the coming together, the energy and the protocol, the submission to custom and ritual and suddenly there is another member among you, they are referred to as the ‘ardhangini’, the half of the body that you possess. They bring life, they bring harmony and composure, they acknowledge the growth of the members of this new surname, they mind the home and the hearth! They are quite unique.
