According to the latest report in News 18, the Narcotics Control Bureau chief Sameer Wankhede who has been reportedly accused of bribery and money extortion has been removed as the lead investigator from Aryan Khan drug case. Aryan Khan was arrested by NCB on October 3 after they saw an alleged involvement in drugs that were procured on a cruise ship. Now, the latest update mentions that Wankhede has asked the Delhi unit to take over the case. “I had also filed a petition asking that either a central agency or the NCB’s Delhi unit should take over the probe into the Aryan Khan case and the Nawab Malik case,” he told CNN-News18.

Sameer Wankhede was probing Aryan Khan drug case; however, in an affidavit filed by Prabhakar Sail, the personal bodyguard to KP Gosavi, claimed that he heard Gosavi speak to Sam D’Souza about the deal. Reportedly, he had asked for a whopping amount to release Aryan from the case but he denied all the allegations that were levelled against him. He even penned a letter to the Mumbai Police commissioner requesting that no “precipitate legal action is carried out to frame him falsely with ulterior motives”.

He had released an official statement that read, “An affidavit by Mr Prabhakar Sail, a witness in crime number 94/2021 of MUMBAI ZONAL UNIT of NCB has come to my notice through social media. In the said affidavit, Mr Prabhakar has given details about his movements and activities on 2nd of October 2021, the day above crime was registered. As he is a witness in the case and as the case is before the honorable court and sub-judice, he needs to submit his prayer to the Honorable court rather than through social media if he has anything to say. In addition, there are certain vigilance related allegations against certain persons in the affidavit which are based on overhearing by Mr Prabhakar. Our zonal director, Mumbai Zonal Unit, Mr. Sameer Wankhede has categorically denied these allegations. As some of the contents of the affidavit relate to vigilance matters, I am hereby by forwarding the affidavit to Director General Narcotics Control Bureau and requesting him for further necessary action.
