Ashwin Dhar Arshad Pappu Shah Rukh Khan Dhurandhar

Ashwin Dhar is currently enjoying the spotlight after his performance in Dhurandhar and the sequel, Dhurandhar The Revenge. But it’s not just his acting that has grabbed attention. Instead, the actor has been trending online for an unexpected reason; fans have begun comparing his on-screen look to Shah Rukh Khan’s 2025 Met Gala appearance. And honestly, he is loving it.

Ashwin Dhar REACTS To Dhurandhar’s Arshad Pappu Being Compared To Shah Rukh Khan

Ashwin Dhar plays the role of Arshad Pappu in the film, a feared gangster and the only known enemy of Rehman Dakit, played by Akshaye Khanna. His character reportedly kills Dakit, setting off a chain of events. However, in a dramatic turn (spoiler alert), Rehman’s brother Uzair Baloch eventually tracks him down and kills Arshad Pappu in the sequel.

Meanwhile, fans online picked up on one of Ashwin’s looks from the film and began drawing parallels with Shah Rukh Khan’s Met Gala appearance. Reacting to the viral comparisons, Ashwin told Hindustan Times, “That was a pleasant surprise actually, and some memes were saying that Aditya Dhar should have cast Shah Rukh Khan in the role. That was quite a surprise for me, and compared to Shah Rukh felt very nice, although it was about the costumes and the look and everything.”

He also shared how the memes first reached him. “My team sent it to me. In the beginning, we were just laughing and enjoying the whole thing and then it started going viral. There was not only one meme. A lot of people made this comparison between Shah Rukh Khan and me as Arshad Pappu. It was a nice thing to happen actually. Shah Rukh Khan, being the actor that he is and the person he is, I like being with him in one frame even though it’s a meme.”

Although Ashwin has never worked with Shah Rukh Khan, he hopes that changes soon. “I hope to see him soon. When I meet Shah Rukh, we’ll talk about this meme. It could be a good beginning, an ice breaker,” he added.

Ashwin Dhar On Working With Ranveer Singh

On the other hand, Ashwin Dhar has already shared screen space with Ranveer Singh in Padmaavat. Speaking about reuniting with him on Dhurandhar, he said, “Ranveer is absolutely the same. A bundle of energy, he’s making jokes, meeting people. Whenever he’s on the set, there is another kind of energy. But he has definitely grown as an actor.”

All in all, Ashwin Dhar is clearly soaking in the moment, balancing audience praise for his performance with the unexpected buzz around his viral look. While the comparisons to Shah Rukh Khan have added a fun twist to his rising popularity, his performance as Arshad Pappu has firmly put him on the map. With memorable roles and strong collaborations already under his belt, the actor seems poised for even bigger opportunities ahead.
