Irrfan Khan’s son Babil is all set to make his Bollywood debut with Qala. The movie is releasing on OTT giant Netflix. The first glimpse from the movie is out. Babil makes blink-and-miss appearance in the first-look teaser. Qala is produced by Clean Slate Filmz and also stars Triptii Dimri, Swastika Mukherjee and Amit Sial in the lead roles. At a Netflix event held today, Babil revealed that he auditioned for the film post his dad, Irrfan’s demise when he was ‘broken and vulnerable’.

While talking about auditioning for Qala, Babil said, “One of my close friends had been an assistant to Anvita and even before I read the script, I wanted to do the film. I never had second thoughts about it and jumped to reach the auditions. It was the time Baba had passed away and I was broken and vulnerable”

Director Anvitaa Dutt added, “Actually, when he (Babil) was about 14, I met him at a friend’s house. I had seen him and thought there was something so interesting about this boy.”

“When I saw the audition, in just two lines, I knew he was Jagan. It was the first time he was facing the camera and it could have been frightening. Babil was also coming from a sad place and yet kept his energy intact. He is truly a beautiful god’s child and has shined in the film,” she added.
