Bhumi Pednekar To Exit The Royals Season 2

Bhumi Pednekar is reportedly stepping away from the second season of The Royals, despite being one of the lead stars alongside Ishaan Khatter in the debut season. According to Mid-Day reports, the makers have decided to take the series in a fresh creative direction, shifting its focus away from romance and towards the internal dynamics of the royal family.

As season 2 gears up for production, the show is said to be evolving from a romantic comedy into a family-centric drama. Reports suggest that the makers now want to explore the relationships and conflicts within the royal household. Which will be particularly involving Ishaan, Zeenat Aman, and Sakshi Tanwar.

Speaking about the change, a source said, “When you do a romance, it is the story that leads. When the show came out, what resonated (with the audience) was the family: Ishaan, Sakshi, Zeenat, and the world of The Royals, which feels different. We left season one with an unresolved romance. There was no decision to carry it forward. There was no fight with Bhumi. The makers are simply letting the story lead forward organically in the second season.”

In earlier interviews, Bhumi had admitted that the criticism surrounding the show deeply affected her. Further, pushing her to take a short break and question herself professionally. The streaming platform greenlit the second season shortly after the premiere of season 1.

Bhumi Pednekar To Gear Up For Daldal Season 2

The report further claimed that Bhumi is now gravitating towards stronger and more intense characters across different genres. She is expected to reprise her role as a troubled cop in season 2 of Daldal. Moreover, is also reportedly part of Imran Khan’s much-awaited Netflix comeback project. “Bhumi is also set to feature opposite Imran Khan in what insiders describe as his long-awaited comeback film for Netflix. The project, currently under wraps, has been in development for some time. She is also expected to begin working on Daldal 2, a project that aligns more closely with the intense space she has increasingly gravitated towards in recent years,” the source added.

The Royals has been helmed by directors Priyanka Ghose and Nupur Asthana. While the series is backed by Pritish Nandy Communications. The show features an ensemble cast led by Bhumi Pednekar, Ishaan Khatter, Sakshi Tanwar, and veteran star Zeenat Aman. Blending romance, comedy, and drama, the series revolves around the clash between a royal family’s traditional lifestyle and the fast-paced world of modern entrepreneurship.

At present, there has been no official confirmation regarding the returning cast members. Along with the release schedule for the upcoming season.
