DYK, Not Kartik Aaryan But Sushant Singh Rajput Was The FIRST Choice For Chandu Champion; Bhuvan Arora Spills The Beans

Kartik Aaryan was not the original choice for the film Chandu Champion. In a recent interview, actor Bhuvan Arora disclosed that Sushant Singh Rajput initially held the rights for Chandu Champion, which tells the story of Murlikant Petkar. Arora shared a memory of meeting SSR at the airport, where the late actor mentioned that he had secured the rights to a biopic about Petkar. However, following Sushant’s tragic passing in 2020, the project was handed over to Kartik Aaryan.

Bhuvan Arora Reveals Sushant Singh Rajput Had Kartik Aaryan’s Chandu Champion Rights

During an interview with the Hindi Rush, Bhuvan said, “Ironically, I did a movie, Chandu Champion. Initially, Sushant was supposed to do it. He had the rights to that film. Story rights were also with Sushant. He must have bought it from Murlikant Petkar. Even Murlikant Sir said it in one of the interviews. I bumped into Sushant at the airport and he told me that he was going to do a film about a paralympic swimmer. We both loved acting and used to talk to each other, we discussed the film.”

“Obviously, it slipped off my mind. Recently, when Chandu Champion was released, I saw an interview of Murlikant Sir in which he said that Sushant was supposed to do this film initially. I don’t know the details of it, but ironically, that time I wasn’t there in that movie. Now, I was a part of this film but Sushant wasn’t there,” the actor added.

About Chandu Champion

Directed by Kabir Khan, Chandu Champion premiered in theatres on June 14, 2024. The film focuses on the life of Murlikant Petkar, India’s first Paralympic gold medalist, and received mixed reviews.

Sushant Singh Rajput, meanwhile, was found deceased in his Mumbai apartment in June 2020. While many have labelled his death as a suicide, there are ongoing suspicions of foul play, and his sisters and family continue to seek justice.
