Akshay Kumar recently won a case in the Bombay High Court after a fake AI-generated video of him went viral on social media. The video showed him playing the role of Maharishi Valmiki — something he never did. The video caused confusion and concern among fans and the public.
Akshay Kumar Wins Case Over Fake AI Video
On October 17, Justice Arif Doctor of the Bombay High Court ruled in Akshay’s favour and ordered the video to be removed. The judge called the video “truly alarming”. He said such content must be taken down immediately to protect not only Akshay Kumar’s image but also the public’s interest.
Justice Doctor pointed out that AI-generated videos have become so realistic that it’s hard to tell they are fake. He warned that these types of videos can have serious consequences. Including harming someone’s reputation and spreading false information that can mislead society.
He called the AI-generated video ‘deeply concerning’, Justice Doctor further warned, “The consequences that can arise from such content being disseminated are indeed most grave and serious. Apart from violating and affecting the Plaintiff’s personality and moral rights. Such videos also pose a grave threat to the safety and well-being of the Plaintiff’s family members and can also have an adverse and widespread impact on society and public order, which clearly appears to be the agenda of those who create such content.”
He added that such deepfakes can also threaten the safety of the actor’s family and cause public unrest. The court emphasised the need for stronger protections against this kind of harmful content.
Back on September 23, Akshay himself took to social media to clear things up. He wrote, “I want to clarify that all such videos are fake and created using AI… I request media houses to verify and report only after checking the facts.”
Akshay was represented by senior lawyer Birendra Saraf, who spoke about the growing problem of AI-created fake videos and the need to address it legally.
On the work front, Akshay was last seen in Jolly LLB 3. He has several films lined up for 2026, including Bhooth Bangla, Welcome to the Jungle, and Haiwaan.
