In Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva (2022), Deepika Padukone was introduced as Amrita, Shiva’s mother and a powerful Astra wielder who plays an important role in the mythology of the Astraverse. However, Deepika’s team has now denied any association with the project.

Deepika Padukone Is NOT A Part Of Brahmastra 2

A statement from Deepika’s team read, “All recent reports of Deepika Padukone being a part of Brahmastra 2 or associated with the project in any capacity are untrue.” In Brahmastra, Amrita’s character was established as an important part of the franchise’s mythology. While the first film did not reveal much about the sequel’s storyline, it concluded by introducing Dev, setting the stage for the next chapter of the Astraverse. Following the film’s release, there was considerable speculation over who would portray Dev. Ranveer Singh’s name was among those widely discussed, while some reports also suggested that Vijay Deverakonda could take on the role.

Deepika Padukone’s latest clarification comes amid attention surrounding her recent exits from highly anticipated projects. The actor had earlier walked out of Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit and later exited Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD sequel. Reports claimed that disagreements over remuneration and working hours were among the reasons for her departure. Comments from the filmmakers were also interpreted as criticism of her professional demands. However, several actors and industry personalities came out in support of Deepika. This was particularly as she balances motherhood and her professional commitments.
