Cyclone Amphan: Shah Rukh Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Anushka Sharma pray for the tragedy-affected people

Cyclone Amphan caused major damage in West Bengal on Wednesday. The cyclone destroyed several parts of Bengal, including the capital city Kolkata with thousands of homes damaged, trees and electric poles uprooted. It has claimed many lives too. The cyclone also caused devastation in Odisha, causing destruction to power and telecom infrastructure. The Odisha government estimated that it has affected around 44.8 lakh people in the state.

From Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma, Kareena Kapoor Khan to Vicky Kaushal, Arjun Kapoor, many Bollywood celebrities took to social media to express their concern over the situation and pray for the safety of the affected.

SRK tweeted, “My prayers, thoughts & love to those affected by the devastation caused by cyclone Amphan in Bengal & Odisha. The news has left me feeling hollow. Each & everyone of them is my own. Like my family. We must stay strong through these testing times until we can smile together again.”

Anushka is also heartbroken to see the damage caused by the cyclone. She offered her heartfelt condolences to all the families of the victims.

Kareena took to her Instagram handle to pray for the victims.

Arjun Kapoor tweeted, “What happened in West Bengal and Odisha is extremely saddening and the damage done by the cyclone is devastating!”

Filmmaker Karan Johar also prayed for the safety and protection of the affected.

Vicky Kaushal also prayed for the ‘safety and well being of everyone residing in the regions affected by the cyclone.’

Also, celebs like Shabana Azmi, Anupam Kher, Rajkummar Rao, Riteish Deshmukh and others prayed for West Bengal and Odisha.

Meanwhile, PM Narendra Modi announced a Rs 1,000 crore “advance interim assistance” for West Bengal. Modi also announced Rs 2 lakh each for the families of the deceased in Bengal and Rs 50,000 for the injured.
