After multiple reports surfacing about Deepika Padukone’s citizenship and assumed inability to cast vote, the actress has shut down all rumours and done her bit as a responsible citizen by casting her vote this Lok Sabha elections.

The actress took to her Instagram and wrote, “Never has there been any doubt in my mind about who I am or where I’m from. So for those of you confused on my behalf…please don’t be! Jai Hind!?? #proudtobeanindian #govote.”

Deepika, who is the daughter of former badminton champion Prakash Padukone, was born in Copenhagen, Denmark. She grew up in Bengaluru before joining the Hindi film industry and holds an Indian passport.

With the reports flooding the internet, doubting her claimed rights, the actress has definitely set an example for all Indians to come out and vote.

After the tremendous success of her last movie ‘Padmaavat’, Deepika became the first actress to deliver a 300+ crore film. With this another feather in her cap, Deepika is perceived as the indisputable queen of the box office with numerous films of 100 crore club as well as 200 crore club to her credit.
