Singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh has put an end to rumours that he was removed from the upcoming film Border 2. These rumours started after controversy around his other film Sardaar Ji 3, which faced backlash for casting a Pakistani actress.
Diljit Dosanjh Shares Behind-The-Scenes Video, Confirms Role In Border 2
To clear the air, Diljit posted a video from the sets of Border 2. In the video, he is seen walking out of his vanity van in a formal army-style outfit. He then heads to the set for a dance shoot. He simply captioned the video “Border 2”.
The President of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), BN Tiwari, told India Today that Bhushan Kumar, the film’s producer, requested permission for Diljit to shoot. The federation has now taken back its earlier order and allowed him to continue with the project.
However, filmmaker Ashok Pandit said he will never cast Diljit in any future films and has written to the federation. He added that their non-cooperation with Diljit will go on. Pandit also clarified that Border 2 does not have any Pakistani actors and focuses on Indian security forces, which is why the federation allowed it to move forward.
Earlier reports suggested Diljit was removed from the film because of the Sardaar Ji 3 controversy. But the new video proves that he is still part of the movie.
The cast of Border 2 includes Varun Dhawan, Sunny Deol, and Ahan Shetty. Diljit also received a warm welcome on set, and the producers shared a group photo of the team. Border 2, a sequel to the 1997 war film Border, is set to release on January 23, 2026, during the Republic Day weekend.
