Don 3 Ranveer Singh

Bollywood star Ranveer Singh and production house Excel Entertainment are reportedly embroiled in a major financial and creative conflict following the actor’s exit from the highly anticipated film Don 3. Sources say the disagreement has escalated into a Rs 40 crore deadlock, with Excel seeking compensation for alleged losses after Ranveer stepped away from the project — a development that has now become one of the most talked-about industry disputes of 2026.

Excel Entertainment Seeks Rs 40 Crore Compensation From Ranveer Singh After Don 3 Exit

According to industry reports, Excel Entertainment believes that Ranveer Singh’s sudden departure has caused substantial financial harm, including sunk development costs, scheduling delays and expenses related to pre-production planning. The studio is reportedly seeking compensation from the actor for these losses, while Ranveer’s camp is pushing back strongly, arguing that he should not be held liable.

Sources cited by Variety India indicate that Ranveer chose to exit Don 3 because he was unhappy with the script, repeatedly seeking changes that were not accommodated before he withdrew from the project. However, Excel maintains that the project moved into pre-production only after the actor approved.

At a recent meeting between the two sides, which reportedly lasted several hours, no resolution was reached, and the standoff remains unresolved. While terms such as “compensation” and “liability” are now at the centre of negotiations, neither Ranveer nor the studio has issued any official statements regarding the financial impasse.

With the Rs 40 crore dispute unresolved, Don 3’s future remains uncertain as both sides navigate a complex negotiation that blends creative disagreements with serious financial stakes. The outcome of this conflict could influence how high-profile talent and major production houses manage commitments in big-budget franchises going forward.

About Don 3

Don 3 is the third instalment in the iconic Don franchise, originally headlined by Amitabh Bachchan in the 1970s and later revived by Shah Rukh Khan in two blockbuster films in 2006 and 2011. Announced in August 2023 with Ranveer Singh set to take on the titular role under the direction of Farhan Akhtar, the project has generated significant anticipation as it attempts to continue the legacy of one of Bollywood’s most enduring action thrillers. The film was previously set to begin principal photography in 2026, with casting reports indicating names like Kriti Sanon and Sharvari Wagh attached after the original lead changed due to unforeseen circumstances.
