On Kaun Banega Crorepati 17, Amitabh Bachchan shared a hilarious anecdote from his college days, revealing how he and his friends once gatecrashed weddings just to get food, which had the audience in splits. The legendary actor left viewers in laughter on the latest episode after opening up about his youthful escapades, where he and his college friends would sneak into weddings for the free meal.

The episode kicked off with Big B welcoming contestant Shruti Jain from Mumbai, who mentioned her plan to opt for a court marriage instead of a traditional one. Hearing this, the megastar couldn’t help but share a funny memory. Shruti explained that she didn’t want to spend money on elaborate ceremonies and just wanted a meaningful marriage. She said, “Mujhe apni wedding nahi marriage acchi chahiye.” Bachchan appreciated her clarity and remarked, “I have learnt a new term these days, ‘she is very sorted’.”

That’s when the 81-year-old actor reminisced about a mischievous chapter from his college days. “Hum jab college mein the toh rupaya paisa toh hota nahi tha humare paas, shayad 2 rupaya pocket money milta tha.. toh jab bhook lage shaam ko toh samajh mein nahi aata tha kya karen? Toh hum log dhoondhte the ke kahin shaadi byaah toh nahi horaha… hum log aise jaate the jaise baarati jaa rahe ho andar. Toh darban humko poochta tha, toh hum peeche aarahe hain aise bol ke aage chale jaate tha… (laughs). Khaa peeke aaramse bahar aajate the. Agar aap court marriage karengi toh hum jaison ka kya hoga…”

Earlier, in Kaun Banega Crorepati 14, Amitabh Bachchan had also shared a nostalgic moment from his early days in Calcutta (now Kolkata), where he survived mainly on pani puris while working. He recounted his time as a business executive at Bird & Company, earning just Rs 300-400 per month, and often depended on the phuchkas near Victoria Memorial, which he called the best he had ever tasted.
