Farhan Akhtar Breaks Silence On Don 3 Controversy
In an interview with Hollywood Reporter India, Akhtar explained, “What I’ve learnt is just to expect the unexpected. Nothing can be taken for granted until you have it on film. That’s really what it is.”
What Is The Don 3 Controversy?
The situation around Don 3 centres on Ranveer Singh’s sudden exit, which led to a financial dispute with Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment. The producers reportedly demanded compensation for over Rs 40 crore lost during pre-production. While some sources mentioned an amicable resolution, reports as of April 2026 suggest that negotiations are still ongoing.
Earlier, it was indicated that Singh would return a Rs 10 crore signing fee and provide a stake in his upcoming project, Pralay, to settle the dispute. Despite these reports, insider sources late in April 2026 suggest that the matter remains unresolved, with the Producers Guild of India involved in mediating the dispute. Farhan Akhtar addressed the situation indirectly, emphasising that “nothing can be taken for granted in film production until it is finalised.”
About Don 3, Jee Le Zara
Even though Don 3 and Jee Le Zara are still announced projects that are currently not shaping up as planned. Akhtar is all set to play Indian sitar maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar in Sam Mendes’ upcoming four-part biopic series on The Beatles. In the same interview, he described this opportunity as a “huge responsibility” and called it a “lifelong manifestation coming true.”
