Rumours about Fighter 2 have been officially dismissed, with sources confirming that no discussions have taken place between Hrithik Roshan and Siddharth Anand. The speculation started after a viral post and the director’s emoji reaction to it. Recently, there was widespread buzz about a possible sequel to Fighter. It was fueled by an Instagram post claiming that Fighter 2 was set to begin filming this year. Adding to the rumours, Siddharth Anand responded to the post with an evil eye emoji. This was interpreted by many as a subtle hint or confirmation. However, fresh reports now suggest that these rumours are unfounded and premature.
Hrithik Roshan, Siddharth Anand’s Fighter 2 NOT Happening
According to Bollywood Hungama, there is no truth to the claims about Fighter 2. A source close to Hrithik Roshan clarified that no discussions or plans for a sequel have been made with Siddharth Anand. The insider described the rumours as “baseless,” effectively putting an end to the speculation that had been building recently.
Released in 2024, Fighter was one of Bollywood’s most ambitious action films, with a reported budget of Rs 250 crore. The film earned approximately Rs 358.89 crore worldwide, including Rs 254.89 crore from India and Rs 104 crore from overseas markets. While its performance at the domestic box office was somewhat underwhelming compared to expectations, the film gained popularity after its digital release. Thanks to its OTT success, many believed a sequel might be on the horizon.
About Siddharth Anand’s Fighter
The film featured Hrithik Roshan as Squadron Leader Shamsher Pathania, aka Patty, alongside Deepika Padukone as Squadron Leader Minal Rathore (Minni). Supporting roles included Anil Kapoor, Karan Singh Grover, and Akshay Oberoi. It was set against the backdrop of the Pulwama attack and the Balakot airstrike. The story follows an elite Indian Air Force unit called the Air Dragons. They are assigned to undertake a high-stakes mission against terrorism.
Earlier this year, Siddharth Anand commemorated the film’s second anniversary with a social media post. He called it “two years of my best work.” He highlighted emotional sequences, such as the one between Patty and Saachi. There was another featuring Minni and her father, as some of the most meaningful scenes he has directed.
Despite the love for Fighter on OTT platforms, it now appears that there are no immediate plans to develop a sequel.
