Golmaal 5: Akshay Kumar To Join As Villain, Kareena Kapoor As Leading Lady In Ajay Devgn-Rohit Shetty’s Comedy Film- Report

Rohit Shetty, who recently made headlines after a shootout near his residence in Juhu, Mumbai, has brought Akshay Kumar on board and is trying to get Kareena Kapoor Khan on board for Bollywood’s popular comedy franchise Golmaal 5. The director is returning with the fifth instalment and is currently finalising the cast. Regarding the female lead, reports suggest that the makers have approached Kareena, but an official confirmation is still awaited.

Akshay Kumar To Join As Villain, Kareena Kapoor As Leading Lady In Golmaal 5?

According to a report in Variety India, Akshay Kumar has joined Golmaal 5, but not as part of Ajay Devgn’s team. He will be the lead but will play the role of an antagonist opposite Devgn and his gang. The upcoming film is expected to be larger in scope and bolder in its madness, with a focus on fantasy elements and fresh prank-driven content.

According to a report in Bollywood Hungama, Kareena Kapoor Khan’s casting took some time to finalise due to scheduling and logistical considerations. A source told the publication, “Kareena Kapoor Khan’s casting took time as there were dates and other issues that needed to be sorted out. Rohit Shetty and Ajay Devgn were very eager to sign her. Even Kareena expressed her desire to return to the Golmaal franchise. She received a lot of love for her antics and comic timing in Golmaal 3, which is still fondly remembered today. Rohit and his team have crafted another quirky and entertaining role for Kareena, and they made every effort to bring her on board. Thankfully, it has finally happened.”

OG Cast Of Golmaal

The original cast of Golmaal 5 is said to include Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Kunal Kemmu, and Shreyas Talpade. Also seen will be Johnny Lever, Sanjay Mishra, Mukesh Tiwari, and Ashwini Kalsekar. Sharman Joshi is also likely to return, though this has not been officially confirmed.

About Golmaal 5 Production

Production is scheduled to begin at the end of February at Film City, Mumbai. The makers aim to release the film in early 2027, provided everything proceeds smoothly. Meanwhile, Rohit Shetty is busy filming Rakesh Maria’s biopic, starring John Abraham. Once that project wraps, he will move on to Golmaal 5. Ajay Devgn is currently shooting for Drishyam 3, which is set to release on October 2, 2026.
