During a recent interview with Navbharat Times, when John was asked about the current social media culture, he said, “Yes, I have to stay, but I have decided that gradually I will detach myself from social media. A year and a half ago, I had predicted that around would come when celebrities would say goodbye to social media. I am not very active on social media. Yes, I want updates to article 370 and 35a, so I am upon it, but I am going to disappear from here very soon.”

Talking about actors who often get targeted by anonymous social media users, John added, “Today everyone is active on social media and they are speaking on every subject, but nine out of ten people do not know why they are speaking on that particular subject. They are illiterate, they lack awareness. There are also good people on social media, but there are more people who talk nonsense. If you go on social media even for half an hour, then you will fall ill. They will talk badly about religion, caste and community.”
