Cinema is one of those art forms which is beyond boundaries. And it’s always a pleasure to know that Indian movies are loved and admired across the world. American filmmaker James Gunn recently took his Indian fans by surprise when he shared that he watches Indian movies. The Guardians of the Galaxy director also went on to reveal which film is his favourite.

James has directed some of the most popular Hollywood flicks like The Suicide Squad, Guardians of the Galaxy, Super and Slither to name a few. During his recent interaction with fans and followers on Twitter, James was asked, “Do you see any Indian movies?”

Replying to the query, the director wrote, “Many. Lagaan is probably my favourite (sic).”

Helmed by Ashutosh Gowariker, Lagaan released in 2001. The musical sports drama marked Aamir’s debut in the production. Apart from Aamir, Lagaan also starred Gracy Singh, and British actors Rachel Shelley and Paul Blackthorne.


Lagaan went on to become the third Indian film to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film after Mother India (1957) and Salaam Bombay! (1988).

Aamir’s impressive body of work is loved by people all over the world. Meanwhile, Marvel alumnus James next film The Suicide Squad will be releasing in August. The director’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will release in May 2023.

Coming back to Aamir, the actor is busy with his upcoming film Laal Singh Chaddha, which is the official remake of the 1994 American film Forrest Gump.
