FIR Filed Against Singer Masoom Sharma

Masoom Sharma, who gained fame with songs like 2 Numbari and Madam Ji, has found himself in legal trouble. He is in distress following a controversy during a public performance in Dehradun. The popular folk artist is facing a criminal case over allegations of using inappropriate language on stage, which reportedly offended attendees and drew the attention of authorities. The incident occurred on April 10 at DAV (PG) College, Dehradun, according to official records. Police have filed an FIR (No. 63/2026) under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including Section 296 (obscene acts and songs), Section 352 (intentional insult aimed at provoking a breach of peace), Section 79 (gestures or words intended to insult the modesty of a woman), and Section 351(3) (criminal intimidation). Dehradun Police has confirmed the registration of the case, stating that due legal procedures will be followed after a thorough investigation in accordance with the law.

Haryana State Commission For Women Summons Masoom Sharma

Meanwhile, the Haryana State Commission for Women has also taken note of the matter. Chairperson Renu Bhatia has issued a notice summoning Sharma to appear before the commission on April 18 at 11 a.m. at its Panchkula office. The singer has been accused of using offensive language and displaying conduct deemed inappropriate for a public figure. The commission observed that such behaviour, if proven, raises serious concerns about upholding dignity and respect for women. Additionally, particularly in educational spaces.

About the controversy

As per reports, the Haryanavi singer allegedly used objectionable language while referring to a goon he claimed had come to harm him outside his hotel in Dehradun. This was shortly after sharing the stage with Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. A video of the incident soon went viral on social media, triggering several complaints across the state. Addressing the backlash, Sharma later issued a video apology. He explained that the stress caused by threats from a suspected gangster led to his outburst during the performance.

Earlier, the Haryana State Commission for Women had directed the police to arrest Badshah after he failed to appear before the panel in connection with the controversy surrounding his music video Tateeree. The commission had previously issued a notice asking the singer to appear before it in Panipat, Haryana. However, after he did not attend the hearing, the commission’s chairperson, Renu Bhatia, instructed the police to seize his passport. Further, take him into custody.
