With its critical take on the newly introduced GST and also Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Digital India initiative, Tamil film ‘Mersal’ has become the talk of the town. Of what might come across as an act of insecurity, the ruling party condemns how the above subjects have been dealt with in the film.

This, however, took an unfair turn as BJP spokesperson GVL Narasimha Rao, in an October 21 debate with panellists on Times Now, went on to say on record that most of the actors possessed a low IQ and general knowledge. (Also Read: Amidst Kangana vs. Hrithik, Farhan Akhtar bats for gender equality)

While this definitely didn’t go down well with many of the film fraternity, actor Farhan Akhtar took to Twitter and slammed Rao.

“How dare you, sir? And to all film people in his ranks.. here’s what he thinks of you. #shame,” he wrote.
