Hrithik Roshan’s maternal grandfather, veteran filmmaker J Om Prakash breathed his last on Wednesday morning. J Om Prakash was 93-years-old. Reportedly, he died due to age-related issues. He had directed some classic films like ‘Aap Ki Kasam’ (1974) and ‘Aakhir Kyon?’ (1985) among several others.

Actor Deepak Parashar took to Twitter to share the sad news. J Om Prakash was Deepak’s uncle. “My dearest uncle “Mr J Om Prakash” passed away about an hour ago. So saddened as he joins his friend, my Mamaji “Mr Mohan Kumar” in heaven! Their contributions to Indian cinema is a gift they left behind for us! Took this pic a few months ago when went to see him! Om Shanti! (sic),” Deepak wrote.

Along with the post, Deepak also shared a picture of his ailing uncle taken a few months ago.

J Om Prakash also had films like ‘Apnapan’, ‘Aasha’, ‘Arpan’, ‘Apna Bana Lo’ and ‘Aadmi Khilona Hai’ to his credit. Apart from directing some memorable films of Hindi cinema, Prakash even produced classic films like ‘Aakhir Kyon?’, ‘Aya Sawan Jhoom Ke’ among several others. Prakash’s daughter Pinky is married to actor-filmmaker Rakesh Roshan.
