Sonu Sood, Vir Das Urge Passengers To NOT Disrespect Ground Staff

Over the past four days, more than 1,000 IndiGo flights have been cancelled, causing widespread chaos at airports across the country, including Delhi, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru. Frustrated passengers have shared videos of their anger and impatience directed at ground staff. In response to the turmoil, actors Sonu Sood and Vir Das have appealed to the public, urging travellers not to vent their frustration on airline frontline employees.

Sonu Sood, Vir Das Urge Passengers NOT To Disrespect Ground Staff

The wave of cancellations has left many passengers stranded for hours, with delays and disruptions causing significant inconvenience.

Sonu Sood

Sonu Sood also shared a heartfelt message via social media, posting a video message appealing for patience. He reminded passengers that ground staff are helpless in such situations and asked everyone to be kind. Sharing the video, Sonu wrote, “A delayed flight is frustrating, but remember the faces trying to fix it. Please be nice and humble to the IndiGo staff; they are carrying the weight of cancellations too. Let’s support them.”

In the video, Sonu said, “My family was among those facing delays and long waits at the airport—over 4 to 5 hours for their flight. I know many meetings were canceled, and people couldn’t attend important events… Everyone is upset and frustrated. But think about the ground staff—they are helpless. They only pass on the messages they receive. So why react harshly to them? It’s our responsibility to support them during this tough time, not lash out because they are powerless.”

Vir Das

On Saturday, Vir Das took to X (formerly Twitter) to address the situation, urging travellers to show understanding towards ground staff. He suggested that senior management, including CEOs and VPs, should step in and take shifts at the airports to directly address passenger concerns instead of leaving overwhelmed junior employees and crew members to handle angry crowds.

“The decent thing to do? The entire senior management of Indigo should be made to take shifts at the airport and stand there. From CEOs to VPs and such. The decision makers. Instead of the terrified junior employees with no power, cabin crew, and ground staff, who have been left to deal with the yelling and screaming,” he wrote.

What’s Behind The IndiGo Flight Disruptions?

IndiGo has described the current situation as an “operational crisis,” with over 1,000 cancellations in a single day last Friday. The airline has been grappling with unexpected operational challenges, citing minor technical glitches, winter schedule adjustments, and weather conditions as contributing factors.

The airline issued an apology to passengers via social media, acknowledging the inconvenience caused. “While this will not be resolved overnight, we assure you that we are doing everything possible to restore normalcy. We appreciate your patience and understanding,” IndiGo stated. The airline announced a “full waiver” on cancellations and rescheduling requests for bookings made between December 5, 2025, and December 15, 2025, to assist affected travellers.
