Sonu Sood Offers Rajpal Yadav His Film Amid Rs 9 Cr Cheque Bounce Case; Urges Directors, Producers To Stand Together

This comes at a time when Yadav has been facing significant financial and legal challenges, including a recent brief return to Tihar Jail over a Rs 9 crore debt.

Sonu Sood praised Rajpal Yadav as a ‘gifted actor’ and emphasised the importance of standing together as an industry during tough times. Instead of offering charity, Sood is providing Yadav with a professional opportunity. Sood confirmed he will sign him for his next project. The actor urged other producers, directors, and colleagues to come forward and uphold the dignity of actors. This supportive move follows Yadav’s ongoing legal issues related to loan repayments and the cheque bounce case.

Sonu Sood shared a message on his Instagram Story. He wrote, “Rajpal Yadav is a talented actor who has given us many memorable performances over the years. Sometimes, life can be unfair—not because of talent, but because timing can be harsh. He will be part of my upcoming film, and I believe this is the time for all of us—producers, directors, colleagues—to stand together. A small signing fee, which can be adjusted against future work, is not charity; it’s a mark of dignity.”

He added, “When one of our own is facing difficult times, the industry must remind him that he’s not alone. This is how we show that we are more than just an industry.”

About Rajpal Yadav’s Cheque Bounce Case

The Delhi High Court had granted him multiple opportunities to settle the dues. In June 2024, his sentence was temporarily suspended. The court urged him to take “exemplary steps” to resolve the matter. Although Yadav deposited Rs 75 lakh in 2025, most of the debt remained unpaid. The court noted repeated breaches of undertakings to pay.

Rajpal Yadav Surrenders

On 4 February 2026, Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma dismissed Yadav’s final plea for a one-week extension to arrange funds. She emphasised that leniency could not be granted indefinitely, regardless of his celebrity status. The court pointed out nearly 20 previous assurances that had gone unfulfilled and underscored that court orders must be respected.

Despite a last-minute attempt by his counsel on 5 February to propose a new payment plan, the court refused to recall the surrender order. Yadav subsequently surrendered at Tihar Jail around 4 pm to serve his six-month sentence. The funds deposited with the court have been released to the complainant company.
