Bollywood, as an industry, is currently going through a phase, where filmmakers are going berserk with rehashing and remixing old songs. This trend has crept in the industry over the last 5-6 years and it raises a valid question over the originality and creativity of musicians and directors.

Now, Ajay Devgn and Anil Kapoor starrer ‘Total Dhamaal’s new song ‘Mungda’ is yet another remake. This song features Sonakshi Sinha. It has irked veteran writer and lyricist Javed Akhtar and he has called it disgusting. Javed saab responded to a Twitter user and vented his frustation.

The original version of ‘Mungda Mungda’ is from the film ‘Inkaar’, which released in 1978. The music director of this song was Rajesh Roshan and he is also not feeling that enthused as well.

Usha Mangeshkar, who had sung the original version is completely opposed to the idea of remixing a classic. “Our songs (the songs sung by the Mangeshkar sisters Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, and Usha Mangeshkar) were created after a great deal of thought and they were done with sensitivity and care. To rip them off in this arbitrary manner is not correct.”

Coming back to ‘Total Dhamaal’, it is a laugh-riot featuring an ensemble cast. The Indra Kumar directorial is slated to release on February 22, 2019.
