Juhi Chawla and Rishi Kapoor have featured together in several films like Bol Radha Bol, Daraar, Luck By Chance and many more. After several years they reunited for Sharmaji Namkeen. Unfortunately, that film turned out to be the last film of Rishi Kapoor. The veteran actor passed away on April 30 last year.

Ahead of Rishi’s first death anniversary, his Sharmaji Namkeen co-star Juhi Chawla opened up about her experience of working with him. Juhi also recalled how Rishi once called her an ‘insecure actor’.

Describing Rishi as a person, Juhi said that he had a ‘tough’ exterior, but he was actually a ‘softie’. Speaking about the late actor, Juhi told Times of India, “Chintuji (Rishi was fondly called by his pet name) had a unique way of speaking — it almost always sounded like he was shouting at you. He had a tough exterior and the heart of a softie. Once I got used to his ways, and I figured out that this is how he was, I started enjoying that about him.”

Recalling why he had called her an ‘insecure actor’, the actress further shared, “One day, he actually called me an insecure actor because I’d rush to see the monitor after every shot. His shots were fantastic, and I was worried if I was holding up well. In his typical style, he shouted at me and said, ‘That monitor is for the director. Not you… you insecure actor.’ It was so funny… I never questioned why he had such a tough exterior, but over the years, I started enjoying it because it was cute.”

Upon Rishi’s untimely demise, Paresh Rawal was brought in to complete the remaining portions of Sharmaji Namkeen. Tomorrow ie. April 30, will mark one year since Rishi Kapoor left for heavenly adobe.
