Ranbir Kapoor on equation with late father Rishi Kapoor

Shedding light on the equation with late father Rishi Kapoor, Ranbir shared, “The bond I shared with my father was like most father-son relationships in India. Thoda distance hota hai, darr hota hai, but there is lots of love and respect. Animal is about seeing a father-son relationship through an obsessed son. So it is different from my real life. But somewhere subconsciously you have certain beats and image in your life and have emotional band to play such scenes.” For the unversed, Rishi Kapoor passed away in 2020 after his long battle with leukemia.

Ranbir Kapoor thanks Anil Kapoor

He further expressed gratitude to Anil Kapoor. “It was amazing to play it with Mr Anil Kapoor who doesn’t looks like my father but younger brother. He promised me long back when I made debut with Sonam,ki mai kisi ka baap nahi banunga lekinjab tu film leker ayega mai tera baap banunga (He promised me long back when I was debuting with his daughter Sonam, that when I will not be anyone’s father,  but when you bring me this film,  I will be your father).   So thank you Anil uncle for doing this. I shared a very warm relationship with him all these years and finally to play a father-son relationship with him was very, very grateful to that. And I see a lot of my father in him, because they come from a similar generation. They have a similar thinking pattern. So when performing with him,  there was a lot of sweet memories that I could recall.”
