Actor Kamaal R Khan, who was arrested last week for firing shots at a residential building in Oshiwara, has now been granted bail. His lawyer, Sana Rae Khan, argued that the arrest was made in an “arbitrary manner” and violated his “constitutional safeguards.” Khan, also an actor and producer, was granted bail on a personal bond of Rs 25,000, claiming that the industry had conspired against him to seek revenge.
Kamaal R Khan Gets Bail In Firing Incident
Sana Rae Khan, a Supreme Court advocate representing KRK, described the arrest as an “abuse of the legal process,” emphasising that it was carried out without proper notice and disregarded constitutional rights. She stated, “His arrest was arbitrary, completely ignoring his constitutional safeguards, and amounts to an abuse of law. There was no solid basis for the arrest. The allegation about missing cartridges, specifically six bullets, is an administrative breach that should be dealt with by licensing authorities, not criminal courts.”
She further pointed out that the claim of firing from KRK’s building was practically impossible, given the limited effective range of the pistol (20-30 meters) and the distance of approximately 1500 meters between his bungalow and the building. “There’s no ballistic evidence linking him to the firing. It’s just an abuse of the legal process and misuse of provisions,” she added.
About The Firing Case
Last week, KRK was detained by Mumbai Police following questioning related to the firing incident. Police reviewed CCTV footage and questioned several individuals after the incident was reported. Initially taken into custody for questioning, KRK admitted that the firing was carried out with his licensed gun, leading to his arrest. He was subsequently produced before the Andheri Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court and sent to judicial custody for two weeks after two days in police remand.
