Following the Khalistani linked attack, comedian Kapil Sharma's Kap's Cafe has issued an official statement condemning violence.

Actor-comedian Kapil Sharma’s Kap’s cafe in Canada was targeted in a shooting, and on Thursday night was amidst an attack. Amid reports suggesting a Khalistani link behind the incident, Kap’s Cafe issued a statement expressing their resolve. They stated that they are “processing the shock” of the event but remain committed to “Stand firm against violence.” This cafe marks Kapil Sharma’s debut venture into the restaurant industry and is located in Surrey, British Columbia.

In an official Instagram statement, Kapil Sharma’s Cafe shared, “We opened Kap’s Cafe with hopes of bringing warmth, community, and joy through delicious coffee and friendly conversation. To have violence intersect with that dream is heartbreaking. We are processing this shock, but we are not giving up.”

About The Attack

The shooting took place around 1:50 am local time outside the Surrey cafe, with several gunshots fired. Surrey Police reported that some staff members were inside the establishment during the incident. The attack came just days after the cafe’s opening, with approximately 10 bullet holes observed in the windows.

According to an NDTV report, a Khalistani separatist has been linked to the shooting. However, Surrey Police spokesperson Staff Sgt. Lindsey Houghton stated that an investigation is ongoing and still in the “early stages.” Houghton added, “Connections to other incidents and potential motives are being examined. Once that’s done, we’ll have a better idea of what happened.”
