Filmmaker Karan Johar has finally spoken about Babil Khan’s emotional outburst that recently drew public attention. Babil, son of the late actor Irrfan Khan, had shared a video on social media criticizing celebrities but soon deleted it.
Karan Johar Feels Like A ‘Terrible Parent’
After the video went viral, Babil also deactivated his Instagram account. His family later released a statement to clear up the confusion. Speaking to Galatta Plus, Karan addressed the viral video and said he felt “terrible as a parent. I felt as bad as people did as a parent when I saw Babil’s meltdown. I felt terrible because I also have a son and a daughter.”
Many in the film industry supported Babil for speaking honestly and from the heart. Karan Johar also commented on the negativity surrounding Nadaaniyan, a Netflix film featuring star kids Ibrahim Ali Khan and Khushi Kapoor. He said the film faced a lot of online hate just because it starred children of famous actors.
According to Karan, criticizing star kids has become a trend and brings more attention online. He urged people to move past this attitude and judge films fairly. Babil’s situation and Karan’s comments have sparked discussions about pressure, honesty, and the ongoing debate around nepotism in Bollywood.
Babil’s Deleted Viral Video
In the now-deleted viral video, Babil Khan was heard saying, “What I mean to say is that I just want you guys to know that there are people like Shanaya Kapoor, Ananya Panday, Arjun Kapoor, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Raghav Juyal, Adarsh Gourav, and Arijit Singh. There are so many more names. Bollywood is so f***. Bollywood is so sc***ed.”
He also says, “Bollywood is the most fakest, fakest, fakest industry that I’ve ever ever been a part of. But there are a few people who want Bollywood to be better (smiles)…I got to show to you so much more, so much more, so much more. I have so much more to give you…..”
Following the video going viral, Babil pulled down the clip and disconnected from social media for a while. However, he soon returned to Instagram and addressed the controversy. The actor’s family and team also released a statement in response to the video being ‘extremely misinterpreted.’
