Contrary to reports suggesting that Kartik Aaryan was distancing himself from Karan Johar and his talent agency DCAA, the actor has taken a positive step by agreeing to a Rs 15 crore reduction in his fees for his latest film. While Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar has kept the Hindi box office lively for over a month with record-breaking runs, Kartik Aaryan’s Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu, backed by Karan Johar and co-starring Ananya Panday, has unfortunately underperformed, failing to cross the Rs 50 crore mark domestically.
Kartik Aaryan Stands By Producers ONCE AGAIN By Reducing Fees
This poor showing has heightened industry concerns, especially as several major projects have also struggled at the box office. Rumours had circulated about a possible rift between Kartik Aaryan and Karan Johar or his agency, DCAA. However, sources told SCREEN that Kartik remains with Karan Johar’s agency and has taken a conciliatory approach by reducing his fee by Rs 15 crore for the film.
According to Bollywood Hungama, “Kartik extended a gesture of support to his producer just days after the film’s release by waiving off Rs 15 crores from his fee.” Industry insiders are calling it a “responsible gesture,” emphasising that it’s “the need of the hour at a time when most Hindi films are underperforming.”
The report also reassures that Kartik’s relationship with Karan Johar remains positive. The actor is currently filming Naagzilla, a horror-comedy produced by Dharma, and discussions are ongoing for their third collaboration. This isn’t the first time Kartik has supported his producers. After the underwhelming performance of Shehzada, he also waived a significant portion of his remuneration.
