EXCLUSIVE: Khushi Mukherjee Regrets Missing Father’s Last Call; Recalls Mother’s Reaction To Her Bold Roles

Khushi Mukherjee lost her father in 2015. The actress shifted to Mumbai against her father’s will and used to live in a PG. She recalls not getting much family support during her struggling days.

In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, Khushi Mukherjee admitted that she regrets not picking up her father’s last call before his death. She recalls her mother’s strict behaviour since childhood. The actress revealed her family’s reaction to her doing bold roles for a living. Scroll down to read more.

Khushi Mukherjee Lost Her Father During Her Struggling Days

When asked if she lost her family during her struggling days, Khushi Mukherjee said, “My father didn’t talk to me even before his death. Woh bhi meri galti thi. Jab maine pehli baar ghar chhoda tha 6 mahine ke liye — tab main 19 saal ki thi. Mere father chahte the ki main actress na banoon. Toh maine ghar chhod diya aur ek PG mein rehne lagi. PG mein third ya fourth floor par rehti thi. Stairs se chadhke jaana padta tha. Bahut hi bhootiya building thi — barish ke time chhat se paani tapakta tha, sofa bheeg jaata tha. Bijli ka bill kaat diya jaata — do din bina electricity ke guzare hain. Aise din bhi dekhe hain maine.”

Khushi Revealed She Got NO Support From Her Family

The actress said, “My father lived in Canada; he had his business over there. Agar unhone mujhe support kiya hota, toh mujhe itni gareebi nahi dekhni padti. Main bhi unse thodi naraz thi. Jab woh hospital mein the, unke ek friend ne mujhe call kiya: ‘Beta, your father met with a heart attack and he wants to talk to you.’ Mujhe laga, yeh sab kahani bana rahe hain. Itne mahine ho gaye, ab yaad aayi meri? Tab tak toh unhone kuch poocha bhi nahi tha mere baare mein.“

The actress added, “Maine kaha, ‘Mujhe unse baat nahi karni. Unko bol do, mujhe unki shakal bhi nahi dekhni.’ Unhone kaha, ‘He’s not well, he’s dying to talk to you.’ Maine kaha, ‘I said I don’t want to talk to him.’ Us time pe maine baat nahi ki, kyunki main frustration aur rebel mode mein thi. Kuch din baad pata chala; he passed away. Maine apne father ko kho diya.”

Khushi left for her home for a month after this incident. She added, “Ek mahine baad main ghar wapas chali gayi, mummy bhi depression mein thi, aur meri female dog bhi usi time guzar gayi. This was in the year 2015. Tab main movies kar rahi thi, kuch bold nahi kiya tha maine. Phir main bhi thodi-thodi depression mein chali gayi. Tangi bhi chal rahi thi. Main manage nahi kar pa rahi thi. Toh wapas family ke saath shift ho gayi. Papa chale gaye, padhai chali gayi, phir main serials karti rahi.”

Khushi Recalls Family’s Reaction To Her Doing Bold Roles

The actress admitted to doing bold roles after losing her father. She said, “Uske baad jab bold web series ki, toh ghar walon ne sawaal uthana shuru kiya. Calls aane lage. Toh maine family ko block kar diya tha. Phir bhai bolne laga, ‘Tu kya karti hai? Tu bhi toh apne photos bechti hai!’ This was the actual state when he said that, mujhe bahut bura laga. Mummy bhi boli, ‘Khushi, sab bol rahe hain. Tu toh serials kar rahi thi, ab yeh sab kyun kar rahi hai?’“

Khushi revealed why she moved away from her family. The influencer said, “Maine kaha, ‘Ek kaam karti hoon. Main aap logon se alag ho jaati hoon. Kyuki meri wajah se aap logon ko bahut problems ho rahi hain.’ Woh log uss time Kandivali then. Main sochti hoon, meri family galat nahi thi. Shayad main hoti toh main bhi wahi karti. Toh main wahan se shift ho gayi. Main yahaan nahi aayi, phir rent pe rehne lag gayi. Tab COVID chal raha tha, hamara kaam band ho chuka tha. Maine ek naya app start kiya tha. Fortunately, God was kind to me. Mera app chalne laga.”

Khushi On Her Mother’s Strict Behaviour

Talking about her mother’s strict behaviour, Khushi recalled, “Ab bachpan mein ladka-ladki, beta-beti — yeh sab maine bahut face kiya hai. Family mein hi, haan… mummy ki taraf se toh at least, papa bhi bolte the, par itna nahi. But my mom — jaise bachpan mein agar movie dekhne ka plan banta, jaise fifth standard mein hota hai na school mein — saare dost milke movie dekhne jaate —ghar ke paas hi tha movie theatre, walking distance pe — 10-15 minute. But mom didn’t allow. Kehti thi, ‘Ladki hai, akeli nahi. Main chhodne jaungi, main lene aaungi.’ Aur sirf chhodne nahi — mummy beech mein baith ke movie bhi dekhti thi! Mujhe lagta tha — arre sab hum log hain, mujhe hi kyu nahi jaane milta?”

Khushi’s Family

Khushi Mukherjee, as mentioned in the interview, said he father had a business in Canada. Her mother, Baby Mukherjee, is her biggest supporter. The actress has a brother named Raja, who is an author, anchor and rapper.
