When we think of top Bollywood songs from the 90s, Kumar Sanu and Udit Narayan are two singers with extensive lists. From Tujhe Dekha To and Kumar Sanu to Pehla Nasha to Ho Gaya Hai Tujhko To Pyar Sajna, the duo delivered top some of the biggest chartbusters that are loved across generations. While the competed for some of the best songs of that time, over the years, the duo emerged as good friends.

Kumar Sanu Takes A Jibe At Udit Narayan’s Kiss Controversy
During a recent conversation with The Lallantop, Kumar Sanu was asked about his massive – especially female fan following during the 90s and 00s. While answering the question, he took a jibe at Udit Narayan over the early 2025 viral concert video in which the latter was seen kissing female fans. The ‘Baazigar O Baazigar’ actor said, “Nahi mereko ko koi chumma wumma nahi khaya. Na maine kisi ko khaya. Na toh me chumma dia, na liya. Maine woh sab nahi kiya (No, nobody came and kissed me. Nor did I kiss anyone. I neither gave nor received a kiss. I didn’t do any of that).”
During the same interaction, Kumar also got candid about his friendship with Udit. While admitting that they once competed with each other, he revealed that they now share a good equation because they have nothing to lose.
Udit’s Kiss Controversy
The Udit Narayan kiss controversy erupted in January 2025 when videos of the singer kissing a female fan post a live performance went viral on social media. In the clips, Udit was seen posing for selfies with fans and occasionally kissing them on the cheek. The video that earned the strongest reaction from the public was the one of a female fan leaning towards Udit to give him a peck on the cheek but the singer turning his face and their lips touching. The video soon went viral online, with netizens questioning the interaction and raising concerns about consent.
Conversations around Udit’s behaviour with female fans got louder when older clips resurfaced showing the singer interacting physically with female singers and fans. The singer later addressed the backlash and defended his actions. He defended his actions as an expression of affection from fans.
