Lata Mangeshkar

The Nightingale of Indian cinema Lata Mangeshkar, had shared the dais with BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi at a function in Mumbai to mark the 51st anniversary of the famous song – “Ae mere watan ke logon”. Mangeshkar shared the dais with Modi for the second time in recent weeks, and this was largely construed as endorsement of the BJP’s PM candidate by the Congress. Therefore they said icons like Lata Mangeshkar should be careful that their larger-than-life persona is not misused for political gains.

According to sources, Congress was not happy with the Melody Queen sharing dais with Modi so AICC spokesman Abhishek Singhvi said, “Lata Mangeshkar is an icon before whom all of us bow down. Beauty of her voice has enthralled the country for many decades. But obviously icons, who are the property of the nation, ought to take care of the possibility of political mileage being drawn from their action.”

Lata Mangeshkar is an artiste and for an artiste there is nothing above their art.
