About Samay-Sharon Controversy
The show featured playful jabs—Samay joked about Sharon’s Bihari roots, while she responded with jokes about his Kashmiri background. Their banter, combined with eye contact, led fans to create romantic edits of the duo on Instagram, sparking dating rumours. The playful exchange also drew criticism from some quarters; BJP leaders, including Maharashtra MLA Ram Kadam, condemned the remarks. Kadam criticised the tendency to make controversial statements for publicity, emphasising that Kashmiri Pandits and Sanatan Hindu deities should not be subjects of ridicule, and warned against offensive behaviour being used to garner attention.
Samay’s Dating Life
Apart from Sharon Verma, Samay has also been linked to Bollywood actress Medha Shankr. During an episode with Varun Dhawan, Samay referred to Medha as his “sabse acchi dost” (best friend). He appeared to be more lenient and friendly with her during the roast, which further fueled speculation about their relationship.
Regarding India’s Got Latent, the show’s first season in 2022 faced controversy after Ranveer Allahbadia made inappropriate remarks about parents and sex. Despite his apology, FIRs were filed against him, Samay, and the show. Subsequently, all episodes of Season 1 were taken down from YouTube.
This year, Samay announced Season 2 of India’s Got Latent. While some viewers have criticised it for being more polished and less raw than the first season, the show continues to draw large audiences, with one episode reportedly crossing 4 crore views within 24 hours.
