A Pune court has sent notices to Bollywood actors Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi regarding their upcoming film Jolly LLB 3. The notice follows a legal complaint filed by lawyer Wajid Khan Bidkar, who claims the movie insults the legal system.
Court Notice Issued To Akshay Kumar, Arshad Warsi
Bidkar argued that the film shows lawyers and judges in a bad light. He was especially offended by a scene where judges are called “mamu,” a slang term. He believes such portrayals make fun of the court and damage the dignity of the legal profession. The court has now asked both actors to appear on September 28. Further details about the case are awaited.
This isn’t the first time Jolly LLB 3 has faced criticism. In May 2024, Chandrabhan, President of the Ajmer District Bar Association, also filed a complaint. He said the film shows lawyers and judges in an inappropriate, humorous way. He even asked the court to stop the film’s shooting.
Chandrabhan said earlier films in the Jolly LLB series also failed to respect the dignity of the judiciary. He noted that Jolly LLB 3 is being shot around Ajmer and claimed the actors don’t seem serious about representing the legal system with respect.
About the Jolly LLB Franchise
The first Jolly LLB movie came out in 2013 with Arshad Warsi in the lead. Akshay Kumar took over in the 2017 sequel. Now, both actors appear together in Jolly LLB 3.
The film is directed by Subhash Kapoor and produced by Star Studio18. The cast also includes Huma Qureshi, Saurabh Shukla, Amrita Rao, and Gajraj Rao.
