Mahakavya Shri Ramayan Katha: Netizens Call Out Anjali Arora’s Casting As Mata Sita; Dub It, ‘Cruel Joke, Blasphemy’

In the next couple of months, audiences globally will be shown two adaptions of the Hindu epic Ramayana on the big screen. While Nitesh Tiwari’s version – starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash, will release during Diwali 2026, Abhishek Singh’s Mahakavya Shri Ramayan Katha – Shri Ram Ki – led by Dev Sharma and Anjali Arora, will release on September 25, 2026.

Yesterday, the makers of Mahakavya Shri Ramayan Katha posted the film’s trailer on social media. Soon after its release, the glimpse sparked social media buzz now, with netizens are trolling it, especially Anjali’s casting as Mata Sita. She also participated in the reality show Lock Upp.

Taking to the comments section of Anjali Arora’s Instagram post, one user wrote, “I’m sorry but wrong casting for seeta mata charector…” Another user wrote, “Maa Sita ke role mein suparnaka” A third reacted, “Ab ye Tik Tok wale ramayan me acting karenge”

Criticising the casting on Reddit, one user wrote, “Anjali Arora as Maa Sita? Seriously? Maa Sita is a deeply revered figure for millions. Casting choices for such roles should reflect dignity and sensitivity, not feel like publicity bait. This casting feels like a cruel joke on people’s beliefs.” Another simply wrote, “Blasphemy”

On Reddit, another joked, “Ranbir Kapoor’s PR made this film to like Ramayana/s” while a third commented, “Mazak bana rakha h” Another Redditor wrote, “My blood boils seriously, isn’t this very offensive, how tf the makers did this and this bitch be acting in maa sita role, i don’t usually get angry on films casting nd all but this is pure mockery of our beliefs. Ban this shit.”

Aside from Dev Sharma and Anjali Arora, Mahakavya Shri Ramayan Katha – Shri Ram Ki stars Sheel Verma as Lakshman, Nirbhay Wadhwa as Hanuman and Rajniesh Duggal as Ravan. The film’s music will feature the voices of artists such as Kailash Kher, Javed Ali, Shaan, Shahid Mallya, Anup Jalota, Vaishali Samant and Krishna Beura.

The film is produced by Prakash Mahobiya and Sanjay Bundela under the banner of Mahobiya Films Production Pvt. Ltd. It isdirected by Abhishek Singh and presented by A J Film’s Entertainment World, headed by Ajay Kanojiya.
